Islamism

I

‘ll keep this simple. On Cheat-Seeking Missiles, I use “Islamism” to refer to the jihadist, expansionist, freedom-hating, woman-demeaning, gay-killing, terrorist arm of Islam, and “Islamist” to refer to the followers of this branch of Islam.

I understand there is another form of Islam, which I refer to as Islam, whose practitioners are Muslims.  When I say “Islam” or “Muslim,” I do not mean “Islamism” or “Islamist.”  I also don’t use the term “moderate Muslim” very often, not because I don’t believe they exist but because I understand it’s no longer … uh … kosher to use the term:

Muslims in general do not like using the term, understanding it to indicate an individual who has politically sold out to the “other” side. (source)

That “other” side wold be us. So by this definition, there are only two kinds of Muslims - those who subscribe to the jihadist philosophy and Uncle Alis, or whatever the Arabic counterpart of “Tom” is.

Well, that certainly raises some questions, eh?

Islamism and Islam are common memes at C-SM. Both are listed in the “Categories” section on the home page, as are several other related terms, like “Islamic countries” and “terrorism.”

Hey Laer! Just discovered your blog. Nice work! Doing well here in DC. Trying to stay out of the political BS but living in a leftest Disneyland (such as DC is) I find myself wanting to hang a John McCain banner across my front lawn!  The post I’m responding to is the one about Islam. I thought you’d be interested in seeing the film “Islam What the West Needs to Know”. It’s powerful and really made me think twice about the challenge we face in the Christian world. Check it out at: http://www.whatthewestneedstoknow.com/ Take care and give my best to the family (that includes Scott and family!)  –Robert

Thanks, Robert. Great to hear from you and I will be sure to tell Incredible Wife and Scott that you “dropped by.”

With Obama winning the presidency by seven percent, we can't blame the media. Their laudatory coverage and refusal to extensively probe into Obama's background and [lack of] experience was at best responsible for five percent of his vote, the pundits tell us. Here is a compilation of over 100 significant instances of pro-Obama/anti-McCain bias during the 2008 campaign.
