Santa Ana Tea Party A Huge Success

Posted by: Laer at 02:57 pm

It couldn’t have been a prettier day in Santa Ana’s Plaza of Flags today, as well over 1,000 people gathered, appropriately close to the Ronald Reagan Federal Courthouse, which you see in the background, to protest the actions of the very un-Reaganesque Barack Obama. Here’s a photo scrapbook of the event, which featured no broken bank windows and no confrontation with police.

Best sign of the day:

And a very powerful runner-up:

Best use of the word Obama:

Current events prize:

Citizen Incredible Daughter #1:

Strict Constitutionalist Prize:

Those were the days!

Here are some shots to give you a sense of the size of the crowd:

And finally, here’s how the Left and the mainly marginalized media will view the entire event:

This event was grassroots all the way – no MoveOn.org or ACORN lurking in the shadows, making it into just a display of astroturf. It was of the people, by the people, for the people. And the White House has the temerity to say the president is unaware of today’s tea parties. That’s the best his brilliant message strategists could come up with? There is hope for us yet!

but if that’s his position, I say, “Mr. President, rest assured that we are very well aware of you, and what you’re doing to our country.”

My favorite placard from the Tea Party in San Antonio:

    “Don’t tax me, bro!”

So the TeaParties were protesting higher taxes on rich people?  If you make less than $250K a year, your federal taxes are going down.  Obama is not responsible for tax increases in California, but why let facts get in the way of conservative angst.  Where were you guys when Bush was spending like drunken sailors on shore leave in TJ?

So many points missed, Dan.  Here, let me help you grasp the world you live in …

    1. The tea parties were not much about higher taxes on rich people.  I doubt if more than 15 or20 percent of the people there made over $250K, and it was clear that a number lived at, near or below the poverty line.  If you went to tea parties in less wealthy locales than Orange County, you probably would have a hard time finding anyone making over $250 K.  No one believes that figure anyway; it’s a joke when you look at the overall tax picture.  That’s why the tea parties are about excessive intrusion of government into our lives, something that always comes with a high cost.  It was also about the tripling of the deficit under Obama, and the California taxes, and the DHS study calling us all rightwing terrorists.  Plus, if you think the taxes stop with Obama’s new taxes on personal income, consider the business taxes, the payroll taxes, the FICA expansion, the proposed cap and trade carbon tax.  Then the California new taxes and ridiculous propositions to give Sacramento even more money.  Again: We don’t like government intrusion on principle, and we don’t like how much it costs.

    2. If you had bothered to drop by or had watched accurate reports on Fox instead of the garbage on CNN and NBC, you would have heard and seen the amount of anger directed at Sacramento and specifically at Schwarzenegger.  Sacramento has been a spending black hole under Dem rule for much longer than DC.  We are not so stupid as to ignore it.  And a lot of the signs and speeches were about GOP spendthrifts who went along with Obama on the bailout votes.

    3.  We were very angry and disappointed with Bush’s spending, Dan, didn’t you know that?  Do you live entirely in your own world or do you ever enquire about how the other side thinks?  By the end of his term, conservatives liked Bush on terror and moral issues, like stem cell research, but were really ticked off with him on spending and immigration.  How do you think his favorabilities got down to the low 30s if Dems make up about half of the population?  Obviously a sizable part of the GOP were giving him unfavorables, too.

By the way, Dan, you flunked the picture recognition test, too.  Only one of the signs shown about says anything about lowering taxes.  You really should try to understand this; we conservatives worked hard to understand where the Bush Derangement Syndrom people were coming from, what motivated Code Pink, etc.  Know your enemy, Dan … or better yet, join your enemy.  Small government, free markets, free speech and the Constitution make a lot more sense than liberal dogma.

With Obama winning the presidency by seven percent, we can't blame the media. Their laudatory coverage and refusal to extensively probe into Obama's background and [lack of] experience was at best responsible for five percent of his vote, the pundits tell us. Here is a compilation of over 100 significant instances of pro-Obama/anti-McCain bias during the 2008 campaign.
