Arrogance, Revisted

Posted by: Laer at 06:48 am

I

know you.  You’re a discerning bunch, the sort of people who don’t vote for presidents based on what fawning news reports say of him.  So you have the mental acuity to remember, oh, two days ago, when so much was being made of America arrogance, and how Obama brought an end to all that silliness during his trip to Europe.

Someone should have told Obama’s science advisor, John Holdren, because he just said the most arrogant thing I’ve ever heard.

Tinkering with Earth’s climate to chill runaway global warming — a radical idea once dismissed out of hand — is being discussed by the White House as a potential emergency option, the president’s new science adviser said Wednesday.

That’s because global warming is happening so rapidly, John Holdren told The Associated Press in his first interview since being confirmed last month.

The concept of using technology to purposely cool the climate is called geoengineering. One option raised by Holdren and proposed by a Nobel Prize-winning scientist includes shooting pollution particles into the upper atmosphere to reflect the sun’s rays. (source)

Where do we start? It’s all so mind-numbing.

Well, why not begin with the supreme arrogance of thinking that you – you pipsqueak little John Holdren – are going to RULE THE WORLD! with your mad scheme to bring the globe to its knees before your pollution-shooting power?  As George Carlin pointed out, the earth ‘s been here for over 10 billion years and we’ve been here for one or two hundred thousand, and we think we’re the ones who run the place?

Then there’s that mega-dose of arrogance evident in Holdren’s dismissal of evidence and theory opposing his position – little things like ten years since the last, hottest year just kinda refuting his “global warming is happening so rapidly” schtick.  Even as scientists with credentials every bit as good as his point to the likelihood of global cooling, he’s so cooly self-assured that he would cool the earth.  Do you get the feeling that if you follow this guy and let him actually do what he’d like to do, one morning you’ll wake up as Goring, Goebbels and Himmler surely did, asking yourself, “What was I thinking when I followed this loon?”

Holdren is not alone.  He told AP that “a very vigorous process” is going on at the White House on topics like geoengineering, involving Cabinet officials and heads of sub-Cabinet level agencies, such as NASA and the Environmental Protection Agency. Those are people – apparently crazy people – with awesome power.

And we’ve apparently given them the keys to the planet.

I love how people completely ignore other times in documented history when there have been radical climate shifts, like during the mini-Ice Age in the 1600s. In other words, pre-Industrial Revolution – so, not manmade! But you never hear about that from the warmies. It blows my mind how they can just blatantly disregard facts in favor of pushing their agenda. Green is the new red.

Remember, Holdren now works for a guy who told bankers that his administration was the only thing standing between them and the pitchforks. Arrogance starts at the top.

  5. J. Ewing

Arrogance may start at the top, but apparently intelligence, reason and discernment do not.

With Obama winning the presidency by seven percent, we can't blame the media. Their laudatory coverage and refusal to extensively probe into Obama's background and [lack of] experience was at best responsible for five percent of his vote, the pundits tell us. Here is a compilation of over 100 significant instances of pro-Obama/anti-McCain bias during the 2008 campaign.
