Obama’s “Big Deal” Illustrated

A

h, the lure of easy money. Poor, rural Pikeville KY fell for it, and now stands to get a shiny new fire station thanks to Obama’s Big Deal.

Oh, lucky them!  Not only a fire station – but Joe Biden came to town to talk about it!

“We’re investing in places like this all across the country,” Biden said, “to demonstrate the vital role towns like this play in the recovery.” (McClatchy)

Ever noticed how “investing” is Dem-speak for taxing the daylights out of you?  That’s what Obamarx has in store for the good citizens of Pikeville, we learn:

Pikeville, where nearly all residents live below the poverty line, will receive $150,000 in grants and a $1 million loan toward the $1.3 million cost of the new fire station, said Fire Chief Wesley Wooten.

So, let’s see if I have that right.  Biden’s “investment” in Pikeville is $150,000 – less than 10 percent  of the cost of the station.  The poverty-stricken people of Pikeville will have to find $150,000 in cash, and obligate themselves to a $1 million loan in order to get this “gift” from Washington.

Tell me again how this is supposed to get us out of the recession …

Oh, and the McClatchy headline?  Biden, not GOP, may be right on fire station.  In the tank, much?

With Obama winning the presidency by seven percent, we can't blame the media. Their laudatory coverage and refusal to extensively probe into Obama's background and [lack of] experience was at best responsible for five percent of his vote, the pundits tell us. Here is a compilation of over 100 significant instances of pro-Obama/anti-McCain bias during the 2008 campaign.
