Obama’s Porn-Lovin’ Dep. AG

Posted by: Laer at 07:24 pm

OK, OK, new Deputy AG-designee David Ogden may not, in fact, be porn-lovin’, but he loves their money, having represented Playboy, Penthouse and the nation’s largest distributor of hard-core porn … and now he’s going to represent Barack Obama!

Among the pro-porn cases Ogden argued was one he lost (thankfully!), in which he argued that it was just fine if children in public libraries are routinely exposed to the most horrific porn because the rights of adults to publicly view women in chains with goats trumped whatever meager rights innocent children might have.

“[Ogden] has opposed filters on library computers protecting children from Internet smut, and successfully defended the right of pornographers to produce material with underage children,” charges Fidelis president Brian Burch.

“Ogden’s record is nothing short of obscene,” Burch continues in a press release. “[He] is a hired gun from Playboy and the ACLU. He can’t run from his long record of opposing common-sense laws protecting families, women, and children.” (One News Now)

In the Roe-affirming Planned Parenthood vs. Casey, Ogden argued that abortion is good for women; it’s having children that is the big problem:

[I]t is grossly misleading to tell a woman that abortion imposes possible detrimental psychological effects when the risks are negligible in most cases, when the evidence shows that she is more likely to experience feelings of relief and happiness, and when child-birth and child-rearing or adoption may pose concomitant (if not greater) risks or adverse psychological effects. (Stop the ACLU)

And, for the hard-core liberal trifecta, in Rover v. Simmons, he argued a death penalty case by saying the U.S. should follow European law because it is superior to our aging and tacky Constitution and redneck case law.

That’s the CV of the man Obama has tagged to be #2 in Justice.  One might say that he’s stuffing the department with lawyers who believe what he believes … but that would be an evil, Bush-like thing to do.

You really misrepresented his background.  He has worked on a number of censorship and first amendment cases.

Let’s see … first amendment … maybe you mean this first amendment “privacy” case?

In Hartigan v. Zbaraz, 484 U.S. 171 (1987), Ogden co-authored a brief for the American Psychological Association arguing that parental notification was an unconstitutional burden on 14-year old adolescent girls seeking an abortion

Or maybe this famous first amendment case:

Ogden represented several communications trade associations challenging provisions of the Child Protection and Obscenity Enforcement Act of 1988. He convinced the court that requiring producers of pornographic materials to personally verify that models were over age 18 at the time the materials were made would “burden too heavily and infringe too deeply on the right to produce First Amendment protected material.” American Library Association v. Thornburgh, 713 F.Supp. 469, 477 (D.D.C. 1989).

    Censorship? You mean this?

In United States v. American Library Association, Ogden served as counsel of record for an amicus brief filed on behalf of fifteen library directors in support of the Association.

“As a condition of receiving federal funds, Congress has – with the Children’s Internet Protection Act … – insisted that public libraries affirmatively censor constitutionally-protected material. By demanding that libraries be censors and devote resources – not to facilitating – but to interfering with patrons’ pursuit of information and ideas, Congress has subverted the role of librarians and public libraries and violated the First Amendment rights of library patrons.” (p. 3).

    In other words, he’s a porn-and-abortion lawyer.

Leave it to the leftists like Dan Chmielewski to look at everything through Alice’s Looking Glass!Where good is evil and evil is good.Where protecting children from the vilest of sexual material is infringment on freedom of speech.
Because we all know it is better to KILL children with his “I never met an abortion I didn’t like” attitude!!Dan, you are so sick it is unbelievable.  But you are also SO representative of what liberals and Democrats and Obama have become.God help the United States of America with people like you around and in power.  You start to make Nazi Germany almost look like a utopian paradise!

With Obama winning the presidency by seven percent, we can't blame the media. Their laudatory coverage and refusal to extensively probe into Obama's background and [lack of] experience was at best responsible for five percent of his vote, the pundits tell us. Here is a compilation of over 100 significant instances of pro-Obama/anti-McCain bias during the 2008 campaign.
