Daschle-ing Off Into The Sunset
A commenter on my Facebook page going by the moniker Meat T Meat (I think it’s Mary Tyler Moore! MTM! It must be! [Throw hat in air]) made a darn good observation today on the hurried scurry of Tom “There are whores and there are whores and then there is Tom” Daschle. He (Oops, “he.” Darn.) picked up a benign enough sounding quote and then launched into this:
It’s interesting to see how the mainscream media is portraying this event.
The Guardian says “Barack Obama suffered the biggest blow to date of his promise to clean up politics in Washington today when one of his mentors was forced to withdraw from a cabinet post amid concerns about his payment of income tax.”
Now … I’m certainly no politico or… Read More professional commentator, but it seems to me that – if Obambam’s TRUE goal was to “clean up politics in Washington” – dodging the bullet of harboring a tax cheat wouldn’t be a ‘blow’ at all. It would be something that he should have taken care of when the issue was first brought to light. Daschle shouldn’t have made it as far in the process as he did IF the goal were to keep a clean house.
Which tells me – a layman – that Obambam’s goal is the polar opposite of cleaning up politics in Washington. But, hey, that’s just me.
No, MTM, it’s not just you. It’s me too.
I am not going to miss eight years of looking at red, round bi-focals, and I’m not going to call today “a bad day for health care,” as the Token Dem did. Nope, I see it as a bad day for Obama and a fine day for America, as it always is when a tax dodger, especially a powerful and influential one, gets treated the way a tax dodger should.
