Another Disgraced Obama Nominee
During most of the campaign, Obama probably never gave a thought to who his Treasury Secretary would be – but with the meltdown and bailouts and the proposed trillion gazillion dollar deficit, it’s suddenly become one of the most important seats in the cabinet.
Too bad his nominee for the spot, Timothy Geithner, may be out before he’s in … joining another who would have been pivotal in Obama’s financial policies, disgraced Commerce Sec nominee Bill Richardson.
Timothy Geithner didn’t pay Social Security and Medicare taxes for several years while he worked for the International Monetary Fund, and he employed an immigrant housekeeper who briefly lacked proper work papers.
Those issues, and a series of other tax matters, caused the postponement Tuesday of Mr. Geithner’s confirmation hearing as Treasury secretary. (WSJ)
But Dem Sens, including committee chair Max Baucus are saying they’ll continue to stand by Geithner. If they do, that means the IRS’ ultimate boss will be a guy who cheated on his taxes year after year after year. Obama’s camp called the tax dodging minor and an “honest mistake.”
Great – I think I’ll stop paying my FICA and see if the IRS will be just as nice to me as the Obamabots are being to Geithner.
Is that what Obama meant by change? We all get to scam the IRS … or is it just selected scamming by the Obama-elite?
