The stat you cite on the economy and market is based on &lt;a href=&quot;http://money.cnn.com/2004/01/21/markets/election_demsvreps/&quot; rel=&quot;nofollow&quot;&gt;ONE study&lt;/a&gt; by two UCLA economists using TWO portfolios created by University of Chicago (hmmm) economists.  Strangely (not) the UCLA economists selected out of all the years they could have chosen as the start date 1927, which is odd (not) because stats are available back further than that.  That of course starting in 1927 allowed them to begin their analysis with Hoover and the big crash - skewing the outset of the data.  Also, it does not cover &quot;economic growth;&quot; just the stock market.</description>
