e members of the Watcher’s Council tend to like well researched pieces that break new ground, so we often find Wolf Howling at the top of our Watcher’s Council picks for best blogging of the week, as he’s a master of that craft. And again this week he king of the blog-prom with Standing At The Crossroads - Identity Politics, Multiculturalism & The Melting Pot, a very helpful analysis of the status and stakes of the far Left and Conservative movements in this election.

I voted him second in a tough vote, giving the nod ultimately to Joshuapundit for his third-place post, The Game Changer - Duty, Honor, Country, which did an excellent job of recapping the RNC convention. I also scored Soccer Dad a “10″ for his post on Sarah Palin, An exceptional choice, which came in second.

I was nowhere to be found, which tends to happen in weeks that are particularly demanding at work, but my nominee for best non-Council entry, Beldar Blog’s Don’t Confuse Republicans’ thrill over the Palin nomination with the Dems’ worship of Obama: A reply to Paul Mirengoff, came in first.

See all the winners here.

And while you’re there, be sure to read the Watcher’s tribute to Maj. Andrew Olmsted, a former Watcher’s Council member who gave his life for freedom while serving in Iraq.

And while you’re at it, you might want to bookmark or RSS the new Watcher site. Trip, the new Watcher, is doing a magnificent job with it.

With Obama winning the presidency by seven percent, we can't blame the media. Their laudatory coverage and refusal to extensively probe into Obama's background and [lack of] experience was at best responsible for five percent of his vote, the pundits tell us. Here is a compilation of over 100 significant instances of pro-Obama/anti-McCain bias during the 2008 campaign.
