Dear Laer,
Obama had made a couple of statements about McCain not realizing what kind of a fight he is in.

But no, that’s not why the speech was like that.

The anti-war movement; during a time when there was a draft, ten times as many were killed and students were killed by National Guardsmen; they succeeded only in destroying the Democratic Party.

The Russians are the reason. There aren’t too many people who remember WWII but family stories are rife with it. Grandad and Grandma stories are real for most people. People can argue about how dangerous Saddam was or Iran is, but all families know the story about ducking under the desk at school during the atom bomb drills.

I think he got it just right.
