What Would You Ask Barack And John?

Posted by: Laer at 12:52 pm

I

got an email this a.m. from Pastor Rick Warren – me and many others – asking for input for this Saturday’s session at Saddleback Church featuring Barack Obama and John McCain. Here it is:

This next Saturday, August 16, 2008, I will interview Senators John McCain and Barack Obama for an hour each at our nationally televised Saddleback Civil Forum on the Presidency. The following morning I will be preaching a message entitled “The Kind of Leadership America Needs.”

I’d value your opinion and feedback. What question would you ask BOTH candidates if you had the chance? Please frame your question in a way that it could be asked of both candidates (to be fair). This would be a great help to me.

We’re in this together. I also ask you to pray I’ll have the necessary wisdom. This will be an historic event. Never have the two candidates been interviewed by a pastor in a church. It will be a great day for all churches, showing the importance of the local church being at the civil table.

I thank God he has called you to serve Him. For the global glory of God.

Rick

So what would you ask? (NOTE: Rick will ask the same question in exactly the same wording to both candidates, so please avoid diatribe questions to either candidate.)

Pass it to me through the comments section and if it’s as good as I know you can do, I’ll pass it along to Pastor Rick.

To Obama: You call yourself a “devout” Christian, yet have said that all paths lead to God, support infanticide, support homosexual marriage and have essentially said there is no hell. How do you reconcile those with what the Holy Bible? To Obama: Name three to five specific things in your experience that show your ability to defend our country and the Constitution, and to be commander-in-chief of our Armed Forces? To Obama: You appeared to have sneered at people who “cling” to God and who have differnet hobbies or tastes than you–particularly, game hunters or owners of weapons. How do such remarks indicate your ability to unify, not divide? To Obama: You said you wish to raise taxes on the rich and then to redistribute wealth? Is the former wise for an economy that requires reinvestment to fuel its engine? Is the latter wise, especially for those who apparently do not wish to work?To Obama: You have supported reparations for black Americans, based on the former practice of slavery. One, what is that fair to the rest of us ? Two, do you intend to pursue reparations from African countries, in which black Africans sold oher black Africans into slavery? To Obama: You have refused to provide incontrovertible proof of your birth and nationality? Why? Is there something you’re trying to hide? Are you constitutionally qualified to be president, should you be elected? If not, will you remove yourself from the race, now?To Obama: Your solution to the energy crisis was to properly inflate our vehicles’ tires. Meanwhile, the Democrat majority in Congress appears unwilling, in the face of polling data which show that Americans want a solution, including expanded drilling and exploration, left for summer recess without reconciling this? What have you not championed this very obvious wish of the people to give them relief in their pocketbooks? To Obama: When a seven-year-old girl recently asked you why you wanted to be president, you answered that America is not what it used to be, and appeared unable to say anything positive about our country. How can a potential presidential candidate not be able to say anything positive about our country? To Obama: You went to great lengths recently to campaign in Europe to people who could not elect you? What purpose did that serve? To Obama: What is your real name and what citizenship(s) do you hold? To McCain: What are the three most important issues facing our country and what would you do to resovle them?To McCain: What qualities do you think are required for someone to be commander-in-chief? Where are your strengths and weaknesses? To McCain: Obama has said he would reduce our military’s might? Please reply. To Obama:

PLEASE NOTE: The same question must be applicable to each candidate. Pastor Rick won’t change the wording.

  5. Anne

I’d ask each of them a very simple question: What is the role of government?

I think I can already guess what each would say.

  6. Dr Felter

What action would you feel duty bound to take if your opponent had lied about his birth certificate, his dual citizenship and his real name and all of that would make him unelegible to be Commander-in-Chief ?

  7. Dr Felter

Leaving aside being prescribed by a doctor, have you ever used heavy drugs such as cocaine and, if yes, when did you last take such drugs?Do you believe that drug abuse and in particular taking cocaine has long term negative effects? Is suicide bombing ever justified? How do you view the many statements by the President of Iran about exterminating Israel?

  8. e smith

Have you ever held the citizenship of another country?

  9. e smith

Have you ever held the citizenship of another country? Would you release all your records, including birth certificate, passport records, selective service registration, college records and health records?

My good friend and his wife were pregnant with their first child. When they were 6 months pregnant some problems arose, so they went to the hospital. With the work of some great doctors, the baby was born 3 months premature and weighed less than a pound. This child is now 7 years old and leads a normal life without any health problems.

This story shows us that we have hospitals in this country that allow a woman to bear a healthy child 3-months premature, and therefore children born in the last trimester are viable children. Will you support the end of killing of viable children in the last trimester of pregnancy with the only exception in the case that a birth would kill the mother? If you support this, what will you do to put it into prctice? If not, why are you denying basic, civil rights to viable children?

Given that the recent change of attitude by the majority of Americans on drilling for oil within our own country rather than sending billions to foreign lands, why shouldn’t we drill in Anwar? And, please don’t say, “let the oil companies drill the land they already lease,” as we already know they would be doing so if it made good business sense.

    To Obama:
Why will you not release your birth certificate in hard copy or any other relevant records such as full medical records, selective service registration, or client lists from your law office. You promised transparency after all

  13. Bob R

Before September 15th of this year, would you release hard copies of your records, including; your initial and subsequent changes of birth certificate(s), most recent, and if possible, the past two passports or records of same, proof of your selective service registration, college yearbooks, with corresponding academic records or summaries, and a full set of health records?

From Dick Morris and Eileen McGann at Newsmax (this should be pared down, but when I re-read it, I have no idea what should be cut out.)Russian Invasion the Same as Hitler’s
On Oct. 3, 1938, Hitler’s armies overtook Sudetenland, a part of Czechoslovakia. This was justified, said Hitler, because Germany was only responding to separatist demands from the large German population there and honoring their desire for reunion with Germany.
Hitler’s tanks crushed a vital part of an independent country that had largely rejected his overtures and allied itself with the West. Neither Britain nor France nor the United States did a thing to stop him.
On Aug. 7, 2008, Vladimir Putin’s armies marched into South Ossetia, a part of Georgia. Russia said it was responding to separatist demands from the large Russian population that lived there and that was merely honoring their desire to reunite with Russia.
Putin’s tanks crushed a vital part of an independent country that had largely rejected his overtures and allied itself with the West. Neither Britain nor France nor the United States did a thing to stop him.
Encouraged by his occupation of Sudetenland, Hitler continued his campaign on Czechoslovakia and invaded the rest of the nation a few months later.
How can we allow history to repeat itself?
What strategies should be implemented to stop Russia now?
How are we going to put the lessons we’ve learned from history to good use to stop what is unfolding today in Georgia?

Darn. That didn’t come out very well. Please excuse the duplicate, I’ll try again.

What is your opinion on the establishment of a civilian defense force, separate from the military, in America.

  17. Mary Smith

Should America establish a civilian defense force that is separate from the military? If so, what would be the functions and limitations of such a force? To whom would such a force be responsible?

With Obama winning the presidency by seven percent, we can't blame the media. Their laudatory coverage and refusal to extensively probe into Obama's background and [lack of] experience was at best responsible for five percent of his vote, the pundits tell us. Here is a compilation of over 100 significant instances of pro-Obama/anti-McCain bias during the 2008 campaign.
