Obama In Berlin: A Chickfest!

I
may write more on Obama’s Berlin speech later tonight since there’s certainly a lot of grist for the mill in it. But I’m suffering pretty badly from Work Re-Entry Syndrome after last week’s vacation, so in case I don’t get back to the blog tonight, I wanted to share this with photo with you, dear readers.
What does it show? What does it tell you? In a word:
Chickfest!
With the exception of gray shirt and maybe red shirt in the middle of the pack and a couple kids, every single person on the front row is female, as are most of the identifiable people in the rows further back. Check out the blond in the pink top just above the security guy in the lower left - her expression catches it all: She’s an Obama groupie experiencing an intense O-Worship moment. Oooohh!
Substance? Policy points? I don’t think that’s what’s on their minds.
Say what you will about Obama, but his Berlin speech shows how he has tossed out the established rules of campaigning and is doing things other candidates never thought of - some brilliant, some disgusting. You may find it all appallingly grandiose and indicative of dangerous personality flaws, as I do, but the fact is that may never again see a presidential campaign that fits into the old “typical campaign” rule-set.

You’re absolutely right, but as a chick myself, I’m confused. I’ve never gone for the dork types — and Obama, seen without the Messiah lens, is a dork, with that long horsey face, and the big ears and feet. If he were “merely” a Hollywood star, he’d never make it.
