The campaign is officially on, and MSM coverage is officially favoring Obama. Media Bias 2008 will cover that bias all the way up to the election.

10. Justice Appointment Injustice

Boston Globe reporter - not columnist - Joseph Williams writes this about the candidates’ view on Supreme Court appointments:

Senator Barack Obama, the presumptive Democratic nominee, and Senator John McCain, the likely Republican nominee, have laid out vastly different visions for the Supreme Court should they win the White House. Obama pledges to appoint justices with a broader social outlook, while McCain said he wants more jurists like Chief Justice John Roberts, a conservative who was appointed by President Bush.

Obama judges will just be warm, friendly folk with a “broad social outlook” - a pretty neat turn of phrase that allows Williams to skirt phrases like “pro-abortion,” “activist” and “liberal.” For all the effort Williams poured into not putting “liberal” and “Obama” together, he was quick to get “conservative,” “Bush” and “Roberts” all into his brief description of McCain’s potential judge picks.

With Obama winning the presidency by seven percent, we can't blame the media. Their laudatory coverage and refusal to extensively probe into Obama's background and [lack of] experience was at best responsible for five percent of his vote, the pundits tell us. Here is a compilation of over 100 significant instances of pro-Obama/anti-McCain bias during the 2008 campaign.
